Machines for the CERN-LHC Dipoles Production

During years 1999 and 2004, the Consortium member CTE Sistemi designed and manufactured – in collaboration with the Italian firm Carpenteria S. Antonio SpA, Zanica (BG) - most of the machines for the CERN-LHC Dipoles Production: Welding Presses, Polymerization Presses, Winding Machines, Assembly Tooling and E‑Measurement Machine.

These machines were supplied part to CERN and part to the Industrial Partners of CERN: Ansaldo/ASG-Superconductors, Babcock-Nuclear-Noell and the Consortium Alstom/ Jeumont-Framatome.

The work on the Welding Presses was reported in a press article on the French magazine Soudage and Techniques Connexes, as the first industrial application of auto‑adaptive MAG-STT Welding System.
